I enjoyed your website tremendously and gained considerable insight into the 2nd NY Volunteer Cavalry.

Ivers Calkin was my great, great uncle. And is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Montague, MI. There are pictures of his burial site on the internet. Just do a Google search. It would be a nice addition to your current group of unit monuments, and a fitting tribute to the Medal of Honor recipient.

I am a decendant of the Matson's and now live in Philadelphia.  George from the 41st who fought at Gettysburg and Lewis and Henry, his brothers, fought in the 2nd.  Lewis was wounded and sent to DC while Henry was there at the end.  I have a picture of Henry Matson, that I can send to anyone interested. It would be wonderful to have it added to the site.  This site is a wonderful living tribute to our heros.  Randol's account was most enjoyable to read.   Thank you.

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather Pvt. Jeremiah K. Davis served in the unit 1862-1865, have a photo of a picture in uniform and will try to scan it. My Great-Great-Great-Great Uncle Pvt. Henry Clay Baker from another branvch of the family also served in the 2nd. I have often visited the memorial at Gettysburg and have been glad to see more information about the regiment materialize through the years. I'm very glad to see a living memorial to their gallantry and hope to see you on those occasions when you abandon our native state for the southerly environs of Washington where I earn a living. Best wishes, Jason E. Bruder

One of my ancestors, Sgt. Ira S. Comstock was in Co. A. I'd like to get information on this unit's uniform, weapons, etc. I'd like to find an image of Comstock or see any letters, or records pertaining to him. His brother, Adelbert was in Co. E. 8th NY Artillery

My great great great grandfather Henry Kingsley served with company F from August 4, 1864 to June 5, 1865.  Thanks for having a great web site with so much information.

I recently discovered this site and am in the process of browsing through it.  My great-great grandfather, Joseph Vilmer of NYS, was a member of this prestigious organization.  I have been researching him for about 2 years now and  have most of the family history.  What I do not have is a photograph of him in uniform; so I am hoping that my research will uncover one for me.  Thank you for creating this informative site.

Suzanne,

Glad you like the site. It is still" a work in progress". We always look forward to info from the families of these veterans. Good luck in finding a photo!
